Dear Supporter-

Because of you, we are celebrating two victories at Jubilee USA. Now, in the last 24 hours we must win one final battle for Puerto Rico.

Win #1 - Today, with your support, Puerto Rico's Governor and oversight board initiated the Title III bankruptcy process, the only process in existence that can deal with 100% of the debt, protect essential services, and stop vulture funds.

Win #2 - Because you have spoken up endlessly these past few months, Congressional leadership agreed to include Puerto Rico in its Omnibus funding package. Your calls and e-mails moved Congress to fund Puerto Rico $295 million for Medicaid. While that will only get Puerto Rico the funding it needs through August, it is a good start. We will continue to work until American citizens living in Puerto Rico get the same tax and health benefits as citizens living in the 50 states.

These are two big wins for Puerto Rico, but the fight is not over yet, and the next 24 hours are critical.

Please call the Senate now and tell them not to prevent or delay Title III bankruptcy in the Omnibus spending bill.

The Title III bankruptcy process has only just begun. Without this process running its full course, the situation on the island will only worsen. That’s why it is so important for your members of Congress to hear from you, even if you have already called.

Call Congress today and ensure they do not weaken the Title III process.

Yesterday, Jubilee USA's Executive Director, Eric LeCompte, testified in congress on Puerto Rico's ongoing humanitarian crisis and he called on Congress not to harm Title lll.

Working with Puerto Rico's Archbishop Roberto González and Evangelical Bible Society head Reverend Heriberto Martínez, Jubilee USA continues to be the organization at the forefront of this fight.

Initiation of the Title III process is important for Puerto Rico and will set a precedent for global financial policies. We still have much more work to do with Puerto Rico, but we have come incredibly far, with thanks to you.

In Solidarity,

Jennifer Hojaiban
Deputy Director
